Extracting tag number from car tag

Hello,
Testing the free or api calls. Took a picture of a tag of a car but free ocr api server did not recognized the 6 characters.

Please help.

OCR for license plates is challenging, and often needs some kind of pre-processing. Here in your image the letters are very large (too large for the OCR to recognize them as letters). My approach for a first quick test:

  • reduce the image to 33%
  • use Korean as OCR language (this, and Chinese, work much better than English for alphanumeric OCR).

The result is CK M57. Not perfect, but already much better than before:
